When I set out to write for a living I decided to follow a certain suggestion. I took my material out into the world of screenwriting and book competitions to see if people other than my family and friends thought my work was legitimate and could “wow” a stranger.
I knew the validity and reliability of my research would surge by entering as many reputable competitions that I could. This was my, “proof of concept phase” for me as a writer. If I fared well in the competitions I would know with some level of certainty that I had the writing chops necessary to be taken seriously.
Since beginning the quest I’ve received multiple awards from national and international competitions and film festivals for my sitcom pilots, shorts and feature film scripts and books.
The contests noted below detail some of the outcomes of my little research study.
